Show Information:
Zubin Mehta, a living legend and the world’s most sought after conductor and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra have over the decades formed one of the most celebrated musical partnerships in the world. The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra appointed Mehta Music Advisor in 1969, Music Director in 1977, and Music Director for Life in 1981. Their partnership is the kind that has concert-goers queuing up for miles.
The programme for the evening features:
1. Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky; Orchestrated by Maurice Ravel. Mussorgsky composed this after the death of a dear friend.
2. Symphony no. 6 in B minor, op. 74 (‘Pathétique’) by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Tchaikovsky’s last symphony, it is a tremendous cry of pain and agony, reflecting the composer's tormented soul.
