A national treasure of Russia, this theatre has received four Golden Mask Award nominations for their opera productions and the Government of the Russian Federation prize for their outstanding contribution to the arts. Founded in 1931, this highly decorated troupe is one of the largest musical theatres in the country, and a delight to behold.
Journey with them to 1800 Rome, where Napoleon is attempting to reconquer the city and allegiances are being tested. A 200-member-strong cast brilliantly brings to life Puccini’s epic tragic love story of the talented singer, the free-thinking painter and the cruel and deceitful policeman, playing a cat-and-mouse game over the life of another man. Loyalty and morality are the central questions here. Will Tosca’s love help her save her high-minded hero, or will it doom them all?
