Legendary opera company will stage Carmen, a passionate rendering of Georges Bizet’s much loved classic starring some of the top singers in the opera world. The opera is accompanied by a full orchestra conducted by Maestro Zubin Mehta with a cast and orchestra members of over 250 artists.
Naples’ legendary Teatro di San Carlo, the oldest continuously active opera house in the world (since 1737), even before Milan’s La Scala and Venice’s La Fenice theatres, was commissioned by the Bourbon King Charles III of Naples. The San Carlos Opera company has enjoyed great success all over the world and is known for its critically acclaimed productions and singers. Leading composers of the world like Johann Adolph Hasse, Joseph Haydn, Johann Christian Bach and Christoph Willibald Gluck among others have considered a performance at the historically important San Carlos as a goal of their career. The famous Italian composer Gioachino Rossini, from 1815 to 1822, was house composer and artistic director.
In Bangkok, this legendary company, with a cast of over 250, will stage Carmen, a passionate rendering of Georges Bizet’s much-loved classic starring some of the top singers in the opera world such as Saimir Pirgu, Veronica Simeoni and Vito Priante. These artists regularly perform at The Metropolitan Opera of New York, La Scala of Milan, The Vienna State Opera, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, The Paris Opera, the Bolshoi Theatre plus other World’s famous opera houses. The opera is accompanied by a full orchestra conducted by Maestro Zubin Mehta.
