Founded in 1977, by the renowned bass Franco Pugliese, Teatro Lirico Italiano is the most important private opera company in Italy today. The company has organsied and produced many opera seasons for 24 different theatres and has more than 600 performances to its credit. In Bangkok, the company will stage the World Premiere of its new production, Don Giovanni – an opera in two acts with music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Italian libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte.
Set in Seville of the mid-17th Century, Don Giovanni is based on the legends of Don Juan, a fictional libertine and seducer. As the legendary rake leaves a trail of jilted lovers and mayhem in his wake, Mozart’s alternately mischievous and harrowing masterpiece of mistaken identity reveals Don Giovanni’s darkest side. The cast consists of renowned artists from Italy, Paolo Coni , Angela Nisi, Mauro Corna , Blagoj Nacoski, Jessica Rose Cambio, Alessio Potestio, Italo Proferisce and Giulia De Blasis.
