Natalia Kasatkina’s and Vladimir Vasilyov’s grand Moscow Classical Ballet is one of the leading ballet companies in Russia. Both Vasilyov and Kasatkina have been recognized as innovators who have developed new forms of choreography to define a new language in dance.
The Nutcracker brings together the dreams and imaginative powers of childhood to create a spectacle of virtuosic dance, inspired comedy and unbridled visual extravagance. On a sparkling Christmas Eve in a frost-dusted Edwardian London, Clara and her enchanted Nutcracker doll discover a magical world where she battles with the Mouse King and meets a handsome stranger. As the air grows colder, Clara and her valiant Nutcracker, take a hot air balloon ride across London to the glistening Land of Snow where her adventure really begins. This sparkling ballet is a favourite with families for a reason: it underlines the magic of Christmas and lets their imaginations run wild.
